Spotting Bullshit

The most effective way to identify propaganda, self-serving rhetoric, or misinformation is to observe those who criticize or demonize an issue under the guise of logic or empiricism, yet fail to offer a solution grounded in the same reasoning or evidence

An example: Critics blame Black communities' economic struggles on cultural factors like crime and single-parent households. Yet, when education—proven to help second-generation Black individuals—is proposed as a solution, they contradict their reasoning by insisting the community must fix itself, which is difficult due to the very culture they critique. This is self-serving as it absolves them of responsibility, allowing the problem to persist without addressing its root causes.
